Dr.
Dorall, N.D., D.W.H.H., D.H.M., I.A.Y.T., R.Y.T.,
shares the many disciplines of Hatha, Kripalu, Iynegar, Kundalini,
Jnana, Marma Chikitsa as it is called on and needed by the
individual and class as a whole to address each state of being
between the mind and body. Each class is uniquely different just as
each day comes forth different, with intent to be open and casual.
The Full Moon classes are more about community and connecting so
that release from stress can be achieved from the fast pace world in
a friendly setting. Although not always easy, the body and
mind will benefit greatly from the practice of yoga.
Hatha refers
to the use of persistence or force, and hathayoga is
translated by the Monier-Williams dictionary as "a kind
of forced Yoga or abstract meditation (forcing the mind
to withdraw from external objects
Kripalu is
a form of Hatha Yoga using inner focus, meditation,
standard yoga poses, breathwork, "development of a quiet
mind", and relaxation. Kripalu emphasizes "following the
flow" of prana , or "life-force energy, compassionate
self-acceptance, observing the activity of the mind
without judgment, and taking what is learned into daily
life."
Iyengar created
by B. K. S. Iyengar, is a form of Hatha Yoga known for
its use of props, such as belts, blocks, and blankets,
as aids in performing asanas (postures). The props
enable students to perform the asanas correctly,
minimizing the risk of injury or strain, and making the
postures accessible to both young and old. The
development of strength, mobility and stability are
emphasized through the asanas
Kundalini yoga
is a physical, mental and spiritual discipline for
developing strength, awareness, character, and
consciousness. Practitioners call Kundalini yoga the
yoga of awareness because it focuses primarily on
practices that expand sensory awareness and intuition in
order to raise individual consciousness and merge it
with the Infinite consciousness of God Brahman.
Marma Chikitsa is
a powerful instrument of Ayurveda that originated 6000
years ago, a process, and a therapy that works with 108
subtle and sensitive energy points in the body.
Jñāna consists
of properly understanding kshetra (the field of
activity--that is, the body) and kshetra-jna (the knower
of the body--that is, the soul)Ma
